an official unauthorized bio...
Over the past 10 years, in addition to front- and back-end web development for companies including AOL and PBS, Jeremy has developed a specialty in evolving technologies ... from the earliest days of new media applications like searchable streaming video in the late 90s, to preference-driven content services for wireless devices, and several pioneering, nationally broadcast program-syncronous interactive television projects. In 2002, Jeremy worked with an executive team to provide leadership in the development of PBS digital broadcasting services during the system's transition from analog to digital and spearheaded specialized development projects with partners such as TiVo and Comcast.
This passion for the leading edge has turned him into a uniquely flexible programming developer focused on problem-solving, rather than simply creating code. He has developed with dynamic client-side approaches like AJAX and industrial-grade, server-side frameworks like Zope3; and is also familiar with light-weight, rapid application development tools like Django and Ruby on Rails. Understanding and mastery of a wide range of tools and languages allows Jeremy to be productive and valuable in a broad variety of internet-related development endeavors.
But Jeremy's value is not limited to the mastery of the exciting technology du jour - he applies task-oriented analysis and a wealth of past experience to provide confident and articulate consultation that helps clients select tools and approaches that are appropriate to a specific task. This rounded and contemplation-rich understanding of the information technology landscape provides Jeremy with a unique value proposition for clients - foresight.
A strong proponent and supporter of open standards and open source development, Jeremy was invited to share a demo of his work on an open source, interactive A/V distribution and consumption platform, POSM (Project for Open Source Media), at the 2006 O'Reilly Emerging Technology conference.
Jeremy brings expertise in application design, engineering, implementation, testing, and maintenance, with a focus on quality assurance in each phase that continually informs the overall process. A degree in physics gives him a unique perspective on the science of application building.
When he is not pioneering programming solutions, you can find Jeremy making music with his new band The Wood at their recording studio, or touring with his internationally acclaimed ... and locally loved ... band, The Pietasters.
